Yeah, so I didn't blog before midnight. But I saw Beowulf in 3-D, so, uh... yeah.
The movie left me with mixed feelings. On the one hand, jeez that was gory -- and did we really need all the blood and spears and bile in our face (I mean that literally -- this was, after all, 3-D). And I often felt like the immersive sense that the 3-D glasses created mereley compensated for the overall flatness of the graphics. And don't get me started on the changes made in the storyline (mostly because I don't know what to do with 'em. I can see the reasoning behind the choices made overall, but... huh).
But still, Grendel? Was freaking creepy, man.

Oh, I'm just a quibbler -- it's good . Especially the first bits with Grendel. And see it in 3-D, man!
Dana and I will wait for the DVD. I think Grendel's mom looks cool with the long snakelike tail. (I have see the preview clips.)
There is (out here in the wilderness) only one 3-D theater nearby, and it's not showing there (I'm hoping there's a 'yet' attached). I may just have to venture into a major metropolitan area for this one.
Yipes.
I kept thinking "Oh, dad needs to see this!" when Grendel was speaking old English or a bard started reciting the original verses.
But then someone's eye would get poked out, or their entrails ould splatter in three dimensional glory, and I'd think, "Or maybe not."
Hmmm...maybe I could settle for a regular ol' 2-D theater with regular ol' 2-D entrails.
Interesting take. I haven't decided if I want to see it yet or not. The trailer I saw in the theater one time looked different. That seemed the best way to describe it.
